Term 6: What's in the deep blue sea?

Our enquiry this term is 'What's in the deep blue sea?' We will be learning all about the different creatures and animals deep down in the depths of the ocean. We will begin to use simple maps and globes to identify land and sea, as well as, categorise animals according to their habitat. We will learn all about the season of summer and how we can have fun in the sun! We will end our enquiry with an end of year celebration where we will be dressing up as different under the sea creatures.

We will be exploring a variety of texts to enhance our learning including 'Commotion in the Ocean', 'Tiddler', 'Little Turtle and the Sea', 'Flip Flap Ocean'  and 'The Rainbow Fish'. We will be continuing to develop our listening skills using Phase 1 phonics and we will continue to learn the Phase 2 sounds and actions. We will be focusing on initial sounds, name recognising and writing. We will also be encouraging meaningful mark making through our play, e.g. letters, cards etc.

We will continue to master our foundation mathematic skills with a focus on number composition, sequencing numbers and numbers in depth to five. We will consolidate our learning from the Nursery year.
